  4. What Is The Cost Of Dental Veneers?

Hi, it’s Michael Ghobrial here from Sure Dental. A couple of weeks ago, I met a lovely new patient, Angela, who had driven about an hour and a half to come and see us. She had some veneers done about three years ago and she was never happy with them. She decided to come to us here at Sure Dental because she loved the before and after photos that she saw on our website, and she wanted us to redo her veneers. When we were talking about veneers and costs, she commented, “Wow, that’s quite a different cost to what I paid last time. You obviously get what you pay for.” And it got me thinking about the question of, how much are dental veneers and why is there a variation in cost? So what I want to do is share this video with you, so that you know what to consider, if you’re considering dental veneers and what to think about when considering cost as well.

So each dental veneer can range between $500 and $3000. Now, this is actually quite a big range, and there are four things that can impact the price.

The actual product or material being used. Dental veneers are either done out of porcelain in a laboratory, or they can be done out of resin in office. Both of them have their pros and both of them have their cons, but a resin veneer is much cheaper than a porcelain veneer because it’s done directly, with resin. A porcelain veneer, however, is going to be more expensive as it’s handmade by a ceramist outside of your mouth and is made by much better material that is going to hold its colour and form much better over the long term. So the cost difference can be associated with the material used. Is it resin or is it porcelain?
The dentist themselves, how much experience do they have when it comes to veneer work, how much time do they take to perfect things, and what kind of results do they achieve? A great way to get a sense of that is to check out their website and check out photos and cases that they have done, to know what kind of work they do. It takes a particular skill set to make veneers look like beautiful natural teeth.
The preparation and the work being done before your veneers are done. It is very, very important that there are good photos taken, good records and ideally, a 3D mockup and a digital smile design so that the smile that you’re signing up for, you can visualise before any treatment is done. If you’re doing porcelain veneers, that also allows a good dentist to know exactly how much reduction to do, to allow you to get a great result. It also allows them to be much more conservative of your tooth structure.
The last thing that will impact the cost of the dental veneers treatment is the ceramist that the dentist partners with. The ceramist is an incredibly important part of the process because they help design and create your smile.

You want to choose a practice where they’re using a top-quality ceramist and a ceramist that works here in Australia, using TGA approved materials, the best materials on the market, but is also very talented. Veneers are a bit of an art, and you want a dentist who has the gift in that as well, and you want a dentist that is partnered with a ceramist who also has that gift.

So that’s the four things that will impact the cost of dental veneers. If you are considering upgrading your smile with dental veneers, we would love to look after you.
