Presenting Clinical Problem
A middle-aged man presented with anterior aesthetic concerns following acute dental trauma.
- Dental Discolouration: Generalised tooth staining affecting both upper and lower arches
- Enamel Fracture: Acute chipped front tooth requiring immediate restorative intervention
- Aesthetic Asymmetry: Tooth irregularities affecting overall smile harmony
The primary clinical objective was to address acute trauma whilst systematically improving overall dental aesthetics through conservative restorative approaches.
Treatment Plan & Clinical Process
A staged treatment approach was implemented, beginning with foundation care and progressing through systematic aesthetic enhancement.
Phase 1: Foundation Establishment: Professional scale and clean established optimal periodontal health and removed surface deposits. This preparatory phase ensured healthy tissue foundation for subsequent restorative work.
Phase 2: Colour Optimisation: At-home teeth whitening treatment was implemented to address intrinsic discolouration and establish optimal baseline tooth colour before shade selection for definitive restorations.
Phase 3: Treatment Visualisation: 3D digital mock-up scan technology created precise treatment blueprint, allowing visualisation of anticipated outcomes and facilitating communication regarding aesthetic goals.
Phase 4: Definitive Restoration: Six porcelain veneers were placed on upper anterior teeth, addressing discolouration, enamel fracture, and aesthetic irregularities. Six composite resin build-ups were applied to lower anterior teeth, providing conservative aesthetic enhancement whilst maintaining treatment efficiency.
Clinical Outcome
Individual outcomes vary based on oral habits and compliance with care recommendations. Results experienced by one patient do not necessarily reflect outcomes others may experience.
