Snoring (especially with gasping or choking) and/or excessive daytime sleepiness can be warnings that your body is not receiving adequate oxygen while sleeping. Lengthy interruption to breathing is referred to as Obstructive Sleep Apnoea (OSA), and may be associated with Oxygen Deprivation.Research is showing that OSA can significantly increase the risk or effect of serious medical complications such as cardiovascular disease, heart attack, stroke, high blood pressure and diabetes, and GREATLY increases the risk of work and motor vehicle accidents.
It is also associated with depression, irritability, learning and memory difficulties, weight gain, impotence and headaches.
Research also reveals that 25% of males and 9% of females have Obstructive Sleep Apnoea and the majority of these groups remain UNDIAGNOSED. The condition also affects children.
