One of our long-term patients, Sienna, from Northgate, visited us at the practice yesterday. Sienna wanted to consult about braces and Invisalign. And so she asked me, “Michael, is Invisalign as effective as braces?”
And I thought it was a great question because, nowadays, both are very viable options for most types of crowding issues. And so, I thought I’d record this video to help you understand that question.
So, Is Invisalign as effective as braces?
Now, the simple answer to that question is, yes, it is. Invisalign treatment, over the years, has developed its product so well that nowadays, there are so many tooth movements that we can do predictably and well with Invisalign that we just never thought we would be able to do years ago. And so, in my experience and in the literature, we can see that Invisalign is actually very, very effective nowadays.
Having said that, there are specific types of bites where Invisalign is more effective than fixed braces, and conversely, there are particular bites where fixed braces are more effective than Invisalign. Assessing the individual needs is crucial in determining the appropriate treatment, and it’s information we discuss with our patients during their smile consultation.
And so, as a whole, yes, Invisalign is effective as braces.
