Hi, it’s Dr Michael Ghobrial here, from Sure Dental. I thought I would write this blog to share the three reasons why Invisalign is a great teeth straightening option for teens. I must admit, as a father, I have been a bit reluctant to use Invisalign in the past on teenagers and children because quite frankly, I didn’t trust them to wear the trays as much as I needed to, to get the teeth to move. Over the years, I have been proven wrong. I’ve actually found Invisalign a really great option for our teenage patients. And I’m going to give you the three reasons why I think that is.
- Kids and teenagers have actually proven to have more routine in their life, and are more reliable in wearing their retainers for as long as I want them to than my adult patients. I’ve been overwhelmingly impressed by how well they do, and teeth respond really, really well to it. And it seems to be going very, very straightforward and really well.
- And probably my favourite reason is, that when teens and children have got Invisalign, they can take their trays out to eat, and they can clean their teeth properly and normally. Gone are the days of having all this food stuck in wires, and the kids having to spend 15 minutes to clean their teeth properly, which no one would, with the braces on. And so, that’s my absolute favourite reason to use Invisalign on teens.
- And, it’s more comfortable. We have fewer issues with wires digging into cheeks, ulcers and things getting sore, and it is more comfortable.
The bonus, obviously, I’m going to give a bonus reason. I said, I’d give three, but the fourth reason also is, that it’s more inconspicuous. It’s not obvious that they’re going through orthodontic treatment. That’s a bonus. It doesn’t tend to affect teens and children as much, that side of it. But certainly, that is a nice bonus. But the big three reasons for me is.
- One, teeth respond really well to it. The teens and kids are really compliant and we’re getting really great results.
- Number two, and the biggest one for me, their ability to clean their teeth and keep them healthy during orthodontic treatment is better.
- And, number three was it is more comfortable. There is less tenderness and soreness and ulcers that develop for our teens.
